I wish that the hunting spot was easier to see on the snow, and among the trees. I keep losing it. Maybe it could be a color that contrasts highly with the white of the snow. My vision is not that great, but people with excellent eyesight would probably like to have a better contrast too.
What can help finding hunting spots is the mini map, since they are seen there as yellow points on green ground (probably helps only with good sight) but also switching through hunting workplaces in profession window.
For your wish I can make a simple texture overwrite with something more reddish that has a higher contrast to green and white.
What I had in mind some time ago was a “goto button” for hunting spots in same toolbar right next to the hunting spot. But this would only lead to the oldest spot placed.
I think everyone has the same problem as you have Galensgranny. And I’m not sure that another colour would help much for example in the deep forest but maybe on the snow. I use to look for these hunting spots by looking for the ?-sign when I have no hunter employed. That’s easier to find than the icon.
Tom, that would be great if you would make a texture overwrite. A reddish color would work well.
Nilla, looking for the question mark works, but, not when I assigned a hunter campfire meat roaster with no worker showing up, because I had plopped down more than one hunting spot, having forgotten one of them.
As you have noticed, you can´t run the campfire as long as there are instant hunters icons anyway (unless you have changed the number of possible hunters from 4 to 1) so that trick works also when you want to run the campfire. You simply need to assign that hunter later.
I don´t know if you have noticed the advantage of the combination campfire/instant hunter and the reason that there are 4 hunters at the hunting tool. You can always have one hunter working at the campfire making clothes or roasting meat. When you see some close deer you wan to hunt, you just set a hunting tool on a good spot and the hunter will go there automatically, you don´t need to assign more hunters (unless you really need a lot of meat/hides). But of course, you must demolish the hunter tool to make the hunter go back to his campfire when the deer are gone. I know, easy to forget but the ? on the campfire will help you remember as well as keeping the instant hunter menu open as long as you want to hunt.
Thanks for the explanation, Nilla. I was wondering what was going on with my meat roaster campfire person just up and leaving sometimes.
these quick hunter and fishing spots, i micro manage. too hard to find them in the thick tall RK grass.plus by leaving the spot on the map ,it prevents spawning of other items to those spots of 4 tiles. i leave the window open on screen. once an area is hunted enuf, then decrease the # of hunters and delete the space.
Here is the small patch to make spots more reddish for better contrast on snow. It still has a good contrast on grass (if not red-green blind) and also fits Banished style. Maybe it helps a bit but of course doesn’t solve issues with finding hunting spots in dense forests.
Thanks, Tom! That reddish color spot is easy to see against the snow. I hope people who have red greed colorblindness will let you know. If so, maybe some other time outline it in black.
